Burn, Baby, Burn

Here's how to use the google-powered pedometer -- it's as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9:

1. Click here to launch the google-powered website
2. Enter your city/province in the "jump-to" box above the map
3. Go to "Gmaps Pedometer" in the left navigation column
4. Select "start recording"
5. Select "turn on mile markers"
6. Select "turn on calorie counter"
7. On the map, double-click on your walk/run starting point
8. Continue to double-click along your entire route
9. Remember to add your weight once you turn on calorie counter

A 140-pound person burns 660 calories on a 10K run around Stanley Park. It doesn't matter how difficult the terrain, or how fast you travel. You burn the same number of calories whether you walk or run. Of course, if you run, you cover the distance faster; which means you burn calories faster.

Another neat feature with google maps is the ability to see a 3-D satellite image. This image is the "hybrid" option.

Squash provides an excellent cardiovascular workout. In one hour of squash, a player may expend approximately 700 to 1000 calories (3,000 to 4,000 kJ) which is significantly more than most other sports [1] and over 70% more than either general tennis or racquetball.[2] The sport also provides a good upper and lower body workout by utilising both the legs to run around the court and the arms/torso to swing the racquet.
