It's been six months now since my son returned from Ottawa. Since that time, he has looked for work, and with each passing month, talk of a looming recession has proven to be more reality than talk. Gone are the heady days of the early 2000's when jobs were like low-hanging fruit in easy reach of those who needed one.
Jordan has sent his resume to a hundred different organizations; he's tweaked it to accommodate job descriptions; he's followed up on leads from family members and friends; he's gone to multiple information sessions; and he continues to surf the virtual job boards.
Maybe it's time for Jordan to advertise for a company to come to him. Which got me to thinking ... what would a twenty-something person say in such an advertisement?
You are a successful company, willing to risk hiring a twenty-something who possesses three years of university education and the desire to complete graduation on a part-time basis. You believe in personal growth for each of your employees, because you know that most human beings are wired to be responsible and hard-working. You provide opportunities for individuals to learn new skills. You encourage mentorship programs. If this describes you, apply today. Jordan Carter is likely just the person you need to make your good company a great company.
