Icing on the Christmas Cookies
On Saturday, December 16th my friend Pam hosted an Ice-Your-Christmas-Cookie party at her dad's place in North Vancouver. 2006 will go down in the history books as the year with the craziest storms. The most recent storm knocked out power in homes and businesses across the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and the Sunshine Coast. On the day of the cookie party the power was off for the first hour - but then, miraculously, it was restored. Pam, Sheela, Neena, Tracey, Alison, Pam W, and I drank copious amounts of tea and iced a gazillion sugar cookies. Mr. Hoe swung by the kitchen every now and again and lavished the wanna-be artists with welcomed praise. Later, Tracey collected a few cookies from each of us. Her family is planning to distribute cookies to folks living in the downtown eastside on Christmas Eve. Another cookie-icing-party has come and gone - I treasure this annual event.
