Weighing in on Thursday

I ran with "Jenny" last night. She was like me, one of the newbies at the Running Room. There were less people than I expected, given the new year and all.

Jenny and I decided to try a seven-kilometer run that had an uphill climb at the beginning and a welcome descent at the end. The next organized run is Sunday -- a 13 km run along the Skytrain path. Funny thing is, this particular set of runners call themselves the "10 km group." Um, if you're already at 13 kms, doesn't that mean you've achieved your goal? Sunday runs are ten-and-ones: you run 10 minutes and walk one minute. Last night's run was continuous.

The scales were unchanged this morning. I pounded the treadmill at the Royalton's gym for half an hour and burned 400 calories. Breakfast was a bowl of hot Red River cereal.

Now it's time for another day at the office.
